To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall, The Outdoor Arts Foundation is organizing a local exhibition featuring authentic 18” x 24” sections, newly painted by artists throughout the State of Florida.

For their compositions, artists were asked to contemplate the symbolic nature of the Wall and the juxtaposition between how it represented Communism, the Cold War, segregation and oppression during its existence; and then, how it became the quintessential symbol of freedom, democracy and cultural diversity when it fell.

From June of 2008 through November of 2009, the completed sections will go on public display throughout the Tampa Bay Area. The Outdoor Arts Foundation is still in the process of securing a display venue for 2008; however, we have finalized plans to have the exhibit displayed throughout the transfer level of Tampa International Airport throughout 2009.

Following the public exhibit, the sections will be auctioned off at a gala event, scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 14th at the Sirata Beach Resort and Conference Center on St. Pete Beach. The event will celebrate both the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall and the accomplishments of the local artists.

Sponsorships are available for this project and there are several openings left for artists. Please come back soon to see more about this exciting event.

The Foundation is also making a limited number of sections available to other arts-based non-profit organizations throughout the United States. We are interested in speaking with other groups, interested in organizing satellite exhibits.
